cabins in townsend tnThe Little River is a pristine, 380 square mile river located in the region close to our cabins in Townsend TN. Eighteen miles of water flow through the national park and there are numerous streams and creeks that flow from this area that are excellent for fishing for trout and other fish native to the Tennessee mountains. The river’s source is in Sevier County, on the north slope of Clingmans Dome. The 7 miles of stream that flows to Elkmont is generally not accessible by vehicles, but it does offer fantastic holes filled with native brook trout.

The fishing spots that are most convenient to the secluded Pigeon Forge Cabins at Black Bear Hollow. Our cabins in Townsend TN are right by all of the secret holes in the Townsend Y portion of the river. Just below Elkmont, the river runs along SR 73, most often called Little River Road. This route connects the two major Tennessee entrances to the National Park in Gatlinburg and Townsend.

You can fish with a valid, Tennessee fishing license in the national park, Cherokee National Forest, and other locations nearby. There are several great fishing guides in the area. There are healthy populations of rainbow trout, brook trout, and brown trout in all of the pools and streams. Just outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in some of the river waters that flow from the Smokies you’ll find some huge smallmouth bass as well.
